Oh, good grief...

Happy Halloween! My favorite holiday of all time. If you consider it a holiday. I do. My kids do. They think going to school today is sacrilegious in fact. So far my morning has not played out as it should, seeing that this is my favorite holiday... My youngest is in a costume parade today. Very exciting indeed. Few things in his life will compete with being a zombie ninja in a parade in front of his school. I mean, really. So naturally he woke up at 4 am to make sure the entire costume was still in the grocery bag ready to go. The excitement began when I told him he had to wear a jacket. What? Not over my costume! Are you nuts? Apparently. So I explained that he could wear the jacket to and from school but did not have to wear it over his costume. But I don't think he understood. He left wearing 4 shirts and no jacket. Four. Sigh...
Now if you have read any of my previous posts you know my oldest son is mildly OCD. So this morning I heard the exasperation coming from his room. I know it well. I chose to ignore it to see if he could work it out on his own. Yeah, that's gonna happen.... So when I saw a Nike fly down the hall, I knew I had to intervene. "Dill, what's up man?" "My stupid shoelace is longer than my other stupid shoe lace so I can't tie my stupid shoe!"  Well I should think not... I love him and I know hours from now I will chuckle about this but not... right... now... And of course the other shoe laces did not match. Why would they? So what else could I do but re lace both shoes? Meanwhile I hear noises from the kitchen, not singing, happy noises...banging, dropping noises. I walk over to see what my beautiful daughter is doing and she immediately informs me that she has "got this". I don't think I want to know what "this" is...ignorance IS bliss.
Well, they have left for the day. One with his bottom drawer over his chest. One with perfect laces. And one with the powerful knowledge that boys are stoopid. I love them so much...Happy Halloween, I'm gonna have another cuppa Joe...
